The Laboratorio de Gobierno is a public institution that was created in 2014 under President Michelle Bachelet’s Government with the goal of promoting an innovative State at the service of people. Led by an Interministerial Strategic Council from the Chilean Government and comprised of a multidisciplinary team, the LabGob’s mission is to develop, coordinate, facilitate and promote people-centred innovation processes within institutions in the public sector. It does this with the vision of fostering a new relationship of trust between citizens, the State, its officials and the private sector.
The Laboratorio’s model for innovation lies in the way in which this State institution undertakes this mission. This chapter is a summary of the standardisation study of this model, aiming to describe how its institutional structure, strategy, value proposition and innovation methods allow it to meet its public policy objectives.
