  • The Consumystic Lecture

Gluzberg, Margarita, 2011, Show, Exhibition or Event, The Consumystic Lecture (Unpublished)

Abstract or Description:

In this first of a series of lectures, Margarita Gluzberg looks at the structures of consumer desire. The lecture is an archaeology, a transmission and a translation. The Consumystic speaks with the voice of the mystified consumer, the voice of consumption as mystical experience, and the voice of strategic mystification of consumption. The lecture draws on the economic theories of Georges Bataille, Public Information films, Balzac, Mirabeau, as some of its sources. It attempts to construct a territory, and an image of the condition that we are in.
